Pleass Global was one of nine Pacific food and beverage companies that participated in the Auckland Food Show 2017 at the Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) New Zealand hosted Pacific Hub stand between July 27 and 30. This was the first time it took part in the Auckland Food Show.
“It was our first visit to the Auckland Food Show and a great opportunity to interact with retailers and consumers. It was a positive experience for our brands VaiWai and AquaSafe Natural Artesian Water for awareness,” Cate Pleass, Pleass Global Marketing Director told Pacific Periscope.
Pleass Global is an environmentally conscious business that has developed a ‘Sustainability Action Plan’ listing a series of actions that will help reduce its ecological footprint. It is organised around principles of sustainability combining environmental and social principles. This is an attribute that sets Pleass apart from many other bottled water companies.
But what equally impressed visitors to the stand was the taste. “The interaction with consumers and retailers was very positive and overwhelming feedback from visitors to the show is that our premium water has a wonderful taste profile and distinctive smoothness,” Ms Pleass added.
She said the show provided valuable information on what consumers like and dislike and “some valid information on price as well.”
Customers’ acceptance of the brand, the taste of the water and the distinctive packaging were satisfying outcomes of being at the Auckland Food Show, Ms Pleass said.
Commending PTI for its support Ms Pleass said, “Media exposure pre-show was excellent and PTI’s support was greatly appreciated. The organisation of the stand, pre-show instructions and support during the show were fantastic and made our attendance very easy.”
Ms Pleass described the company’s participation as a “Good experience for VaiWai and AquaSafe Natural Artesian Water in New Zealand and we are pursuing partners in here to work with our premium brands.
“VaiWai and AquaSafe are new to the market so the strategy will develop once we have partnered with the right distributor,” she said.
The company is a past participant in the PTI NZ Path to Market Programme, which is designed to help potential exporters from the Pacific Islands gain a better understanding of the New Zealand market. It is an export capability programme combining a range of export facilitation services to help export ready and export capable businesses to enter New Zealand.
The programme follows a series of methodical steps to get into the New Zealand market, starting with the workshops followed by an exploratory trade mission to New Zealand to apply their learnings, trial their products and packaging and introduce exporters to potential buyers.
