COVID-19 has forced so many of us to reconsider how we work and function – including the team at Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) New Zealand.

Keen to continue the successful Path to Market workshops which rolled out throughout the region last year, PTI NZ is facilitating its first Path to Market workshop for 2020, online.

Hosted via Zoom in conjunction with Fiji Export Council, the Business Capability Building Workshop will be conducted for Suva-based businesses on May 28, 2020.

Trade Development Manager for PTI NZ Ian Furlong says the workshop is aimed at engaging export ready or export capable businesses and assisting them to export their product to New Zealand.

“Last year we ran a series of workshops which proved popular and useful to businesses considering exporting their products to New Zealand and throughout the Pacific,” Ian says.

“Due to COVID-19, we will be delivering the workshop using Zoom instead of face to face, but we will still cover everything we had planned.”

Topics covered include: Making the most of the New Zealand market opportunity; Current trading patterns and balance of trade; marketing and branding; barcoding; freight, and logistics

Workshop organisers have lined up industry experts to discuss topics during the online session.

Customer Engagement Manager for GS1 New Zealand Caroline James will speak about the importance of Barcoding and why it is necessary for exporters while Raul Sarrot, Director of Freshfish Studio will address marketing and brand strategy development.

EIF International’s Gautam Kishor will guide workshop participants through the freight and logistics of exporting goods in the Pacific as well as the role of Freight Forwarders and Customs Agents including the documentation process.

Approximately 15 Fiji businesses are expected to join in the Zoom session.

All precautions have been taken by the organisers to ensure the venue is safe and participants will be required to practice social distancing and adhere to contact tracing registry.

This is the first of six workshops planned for 2020, with the next scheduled online from Tonga, in mid-June.
